Frequently Asked Questions

What is spinal mobilization?

Spinal mobilization is a type of gentle, passive movement applied to a spinal region or segment so as to gently increase the range of motion of that segment or region.

Spinal mobilization employ a range of techniques or approaches in delivering this passive movement. Some examples include the Maitland and Mulligan techniques with the use of your fingers or hands. Since the joints of the hands are smaller than the joints of the spine, we have developed a tireless, stronger and more precise tool to assist the practioner in accomplishing the patient’s optimal range of motion in less treatment time and in fewer visits.

What are the benefits of spinal mobilization?

Benefits of spinal mobilization treatment may include:

  • Reduce/eliminate back pain
  • Restore spinal mobility and flexibility
  • Muscle relaxation
  • Faster recovery from back injuries

What is the Advanced Spinal Mobilization Instrument (ASMI)?

The Advanced Spinal Mobilization Instrument is the only technology assisted or powered physical therapy tool intended to duplicate the manual spinal mobilization techniques that physical therapists perform with an easy to control and user friendly handset and console.

The device consists of a handset with moving applicator pads that operate in three distinct modes. The pads gently move in and out in an alternating fashion and built-in safety features prevent the pads from overexerting pressure when the handset is placed on the patient’s back.

How does the ASMI help my spinal condition?

Every BODY is different. However, most of the spinal conditions are due to the limitating mobility of the spine.

The treating practitioner “walks” the hanset up and down the entire spine, mobilizing spinal joints in the cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral areas. This elicits gentle spinal mobilization to each pair of vertebrae being treated. This repetitive techniquie restores the natural synovial fluids back to their spinal joints ( in your elbow, knee joints) while increasing the moblity. By restoring the mobility back to your spine, the stresses and loads will be reduced from your affected area.

Performing this technique with the use of the ASMI allows the practioner to treat the root of the problem and not just the symptoms.

Built-in safety features prevent the pads from overexerting pressure.
